Massage in Ottawa: An Hour That Is Entirely Yours
Quiet, women only massage in a calm room. Time to release tension, slow your breath, and let the day soften.

What Is a Relaxation Massage, and Why Does Your Body Need One?
A relaxation massage uses smooth, flowing strokes and steady pressure to work through tension held in your muscles. Your therapist moves methodically across the areas you have chosen, warming the tissue, easing tight spots, and letting your nervous system settle into something slower.
Here is what a regular massage gives you:
- Tension relief where you actually hold it. Neck, shoulders, upper back, and lower back are where most of us store a stressful week.
- A calmer nervous system. Slow, rhythmic touch helps shift your body out of go mode. Many clients feel it in their breathing before they feel it in their muscles.
- Better circulation. Massage encourages blood flow to the muscles being worked, which is part of why you feel lighter afterward.
- Easier sleep. A massage in the late afternoon or evening often turns into the best night's sleep you have had all month.
- Relief for tired legs and feet. If you stand all day or walk everywhere, this is not a treat, it is maintenance.
- Time with no demands on you. Skincare is self care, and so is this. An hour where nobody needs anything from you counts.
Once a month keeps tension from stacking up. If you are in a heavy stretch at work or on your feet constantly, every two or three weeks will serve you better.
Our Massage Treatments
Every massage is relaxation focused and adjusted to the pressure you prefer. Tell your therapist what you want more of and what you want left alone.
Full Body Massage
The full reset. Our longest treatment gives your therapist time to work through your back, shoulders, arms, legs, and feet properly rather than moving on too soon. Book this when you have been running on empty.
Swedish Massage
The classic, and the most requested massage in spas everywhere for good reason. Long, flowing strokes and even pressure that leave you loose, warm, and genuinely relaxed. A perfect first massage if you have never booked one.
Upper Body Massage
Focused entirely on the neck, shoulders, and back. If your tension lives at a desk, in a car, or over a phone screen, this is the one that goes straight to it.
Foot and Leg Massage
For legs that ache at the end of a long day and feet that never get any attention. Grounding, soothing, and deeply underrated.
Face and Scalp Massage
Gentle work across the face, jaw, and scalp. Wonderful if you clench your jaw, get tension headaches, or simply want something calming that leaves your hair and makeup mostly undisturbed.
Post Natal Massage
A gentle post natal massage for the months after birth, focused on the shoulders, neck, and back that carry a baby all day. Positioning and pressure stay soft throughout. Book once your doctor or midwife has cleared you, and tell us if you had a caesarean birth so we can plan around it.
Facial and Massage Packages
Pair a facial with a massage and make an afternoon of it. Our packages are the most popular way to book when you want your skin and your shoulders looked after in one visit.
Please note: massages here are relaxation focused and are not eligible for insurance coverage.
What to Expect Before Your Massage Appointment
- Book ahead. QST Esthetics is appointment only, so there are no walk ins. Every booking is held for you alone.
- Eat lightly. Something small an hour or two before is ideal. A heavy meal right beforehand makes lying face down uncomfortable.
- Skip the alcohol. It works against the relaxation you came for.
- Fill out your intake form. Tell us about injuries, recent surgery, pregnancy, allergies, skin sensitivities, and any area you would rather we avoid. It shapes the whole appointment.
- Wear something comfortable. You will change in private and be draped with a sheet throughout. Only the area being worked on is uncovered.
- Arrive a few minutes early. Five to ten minutes lets you use the washroom, breathe out, and start the treatment already settled.
- Think about pressure. Light, medium, or firm. If you are unsure, start medium and adjust once your therapist begins.
- Come as you are. Shower beforehand if you like, but it is not required.
What to Expect During and After Your Massage
During. Your therapist checks in on pressure, focus areas, and comfort before starting, then works in a calm, unhurried rhythm. Warm room, soft lighting, quiet music. You are draped the entire time and only the area being worked on is exposed. Speak up whenever you want more pressure, less pressure, or a different area, and never feel you have to make conversation. Many clients drift off, and that is a compliment.
Right after. Expect to feel loose, warm, and pleasantly heavy. Give yourself a minute before standing, since getting up too quickly can leave you lightheaded. Water and a slow start are the right move.
In the next day or two. Mild tenderness in the areas that held the most tension is normal and usually fades within a day. Some clients feel the relaxation most strongly the following morning. Like most good things for your body, the benefit compounds when you come regularly rather than once a year.
Massage Aftercare: How to Hold On to That Feeling
In the first 24 hours
- Drink plenty of water through the rest of the day.
- Keep the evening gentle. Skip intense workouts and heavy lifting.
- A warm bath with epsom salts is a lovely way to extend the treatment.
- Rest if you can. Do not schedule anything demanding right after.
- Eat something nourishing rather than skipping a meal.
Over the next few days
- Stretch lightly, especially the areas that felt tightest.
- Notice your posture at your desk and in the car. That is where the tension comes back first.
- Use warmth on any tender spots rather than pushing through with pressure.
Ongoing
- Book monthly to keep tension from building back up, or every two to three weeks during a demanding stretch.
- Tell your therapist what worked and what did not at your next visit, so the treatment keeps getting closer to what your body needs.
The QST Advantage
A women only space. QST Esthetics is women owned and for women only. Every therapist, every treatment room, every appointment. For many of our clients, that is the difference between wanting a massage and actually booking one.
Private rooms and full draping, always. Your comfort and modesty are never an afterthought. You are covered throughout, and you are always in control of what is worked on.
Pressure that suits you. We ask before we start and check in as we go. You never have to endure a massage that is too firm or wonder whether it is rude to ask for more.
All ages, all stages, all communities. Working women, new moms, brides, students, and clients well into their retirement years. You are welcome here.
Appointment only, so you are never rushed. No walk ins means your time is your time, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
Pair it with your skincare. Our facial and massage packages let you book your skin and your shoulders in a single visit, which is how most of our clients prefer to spend an afternoon off.
Massage FAQs
Do I have to undress completely?
No. You undress only to your level of comfort, in private, and you are draped with a sheet for the entire treatment. Only the area being worked on is uncovered.
Is this a relaxation massage or a therapeutic one?
Our massages are relaxation focused, designed to ease tension and help you rest rather than to treat an injury or medical condition. If you are dealing with an injury or ongoing pain, see a registered massage therapist or your doctor first.
How often should I book?
Once a month suits most people. Every two to three weeks is better if you are in a stressful stretch or on your feet all day.
Which massage should I choose?
If you want a full reset, book the full body massage. If your tension sits in your neck and shoulders, book the upper body. If you are new to massage, the Swedish massage is the easiest place to start.
Can I talk during my massage, or should I stay quiet?
Whatever you prefer. Some clients chat, most go quiet, plenty fall asleep. Your therapist will follow your lead.
Can I book a massage while pregnant?
We do not currently offer prenatal massage. Once your baby arrives, our post natal massage is made for exactly this stage. In the meantime, our facials are a favourite with expecting moms.
When can I book a post natal massage?
Once your doctor or midwife has cleared you. Tell us on your intake form how your birth went and how you are healing, so your therapist can adjust positioning and pressure.
